The Gardening Group meets designated months of the year, 4th Thursdays, 10 am – noon, to tour gardens or hear a presentation, and share knowledge and ideas with fellow gardeners. On October 26, 2023, the group’s purchased tickets gave them an afternoon of champagne, coffee, scones, fruit, sandwiches, and a creative session in learning how to assemble beautiful pumpkin centerpieces at New Life Nursery in Penn Valley.

The group’s made a trip, June 22, 2023, was to Tres Jolie Lavender Farm. Please contact Susie Monary-Wilson (  if you are interested in this group.

May 25, 2023, the Gardening Group visited Empire Mine, where they were given a tour by fellow AAUW member and Empire Mine docent Kris Vasser.

March 2023, thank you, Sarah, and Peaceful Valley, for the informative talk on soil, and methods for improving it (organic fertilizers and never too much compost)!

May 24, 2022, Vintage Fashion Show created by Cherie Oliver of Sierra Yesteryear, staged at Susie Monary-Wilson’s home. Members of the Garden Club and anyone else wanting to attend enjoyed an authentic vintage fashion history lesson, starting with the 70s and working back in 20-year increments, 1970 – 1950 – 1930 – 1910 – 1890. Cherie led us through each era with fascinating facts about where we were historically, and the reasons fashions changed as they did. Janine Martin supplied a lovely array of treats and Susie provided her home as a perfect setting!!  For more photos, click here.
